First Baptist Church of Odem

The First Baptist Church of Odem first contacted South Texas Sport Court in 2015 regarding the gym flooring for their upcoming multipurpose building.  At the time, the concrete foundation had been poured, but the building was a long way from completion.

The design and much of the construction of this new Family Life Center was handled in house by parishioners.  This saved the church a significant amount of money and allowed them to build at their pace as funds became available.  After the building was complete, Pastor Willis Moore, commenting on the Sport Court floor, Pastor Moore stated, “…we waited on the Lord to provide His funding to pay for our beautiful floor”.

That wait finally came to an end in 2019, when the Sport Court® High Gloss Maple Select gym floor was the final piece to make the building complete.

In addition to the court space, the building houses a large well equipped commercial kitchen, several Sunday school classrooms, a spacious lobby, a walking track over looking the gym floor, restrooms, and ample storage space.

First Baptist Church of Odem uses the building and the court space for a variety of activities.  The most notable of these is their Living Christmas Tree.  This tree extends nearly to the ceiling.  It is constructed with standing platforms for just over 3 dozen people to stand.  A photo of this tree can bee seen in the photo gallery below.

The Family Life Center is also used for food pantry distribution, senior activities, banquets, children’s activities, large meetings, and of course sports.

South Texas Sport Court provided the overhead basketball goals, volleyball system, and the Sport Court® gym flooring.  Installation of the basketball goals took place about a week before the flooring was installed.  The floor sleeves that hold the volleyball posts were installed at the same time the floor was laid.  The overall timeframe for installation of the flooring was 2-1/2 days.
