The Boys and Girls Club in Beeville, Texas underwent a major remodel in 2018.  The aging building was due for numerous updates and upgrades not only for aesthetics, but also for safety, security, and to make better use of the space.   The crowning jewel on this project was the upgraded gym flooring which replaced the older Sport Court® Response gym flooring with the newer Sport Court® High Gloss Maple Select gym floor.

John Corkill, the club’s Director, expressed during construction, that the upgraded gym flooring would propel the club into becoming a tournament location for organizers and players looking for court time between San Antonio and Corpus Christi.

The upgraded gym flooring provides the look of a high gloss hardwood floor without the all too obvious safety risks and maintenance headaches associated with hardwood.  The Sport Court® floor, with it’s unique ability to absorb lateral energy forces, is proven to reduce injuries compared to hardwood and other floors.   This benefit of Sport Court® gym flooring is leading tournament organizers, including Nike Tournament of Champions, Adidas, NCAA, and USA Volleyball, to utilize courts with Sport Court® when ever possible.

The other concern, common in older steel buildings, is moisture.  The upgraded gym flooring is resistant to moisture damage.  During installation of the new Sport Court® flooring, rain water was penetrating through some improperly flashed windows along the gym’s rear walls.  With any other floor, installation would have been halted.  But, with Sport Court®, we were able to continue the installation process unfazed by the incoming rain water.

If you have any older facility, in need of upgraded gym flooring, Sport Court® may be the best choice.  Contact South Texas Sport Court for a no-cost design consultation.
