Professional Pickleball Players Weigh In
Professional Pickleball Players Weigh In
“It is exciting how much pickleball has grown in recent years and we want everyone to play the game that we love so much. Sport Court’s new and innovative pickleball-specific surface is better than any other modular surface we’ve tried. The traction and ball bounce result in a very fun game. We are excited to see Sport Court pickleball courts popping up around the country, providing families and individuals more opportunities to play.”
Engineering Something New
Engineering Something New
Sport Court® created the first modular athletic surfaces in 1974. In the half century that followed, dozens of others attempted and failed to replicate the quality and performance that Sport Court® is known for. But, despite having the best game court products, designers and engineers at Sport Court® continued to look for areas to improve. One of the primary performance measurements of a sports surface is ball bounce. What works for a heavy basketball may not work for a lightweight pickleball. Recognizing this fact, Sport Court® has been the ONLY sports surface manufacturer to develop a new product specifically for pickleball. This required developing new surface textures and using new resins to attain optimal ball reaction. No other modular pickleball surface delivers the safety and ball performance of Sport Court® Sport Game PB.
Patented Lateral Shock Absorption
Patented Lateral Shock Absorption
Sport Court® pioneered lateral shock absorption to reduce joint strain and injuries. But, what is lateral shock absorption? When athletes quickly start, stop, or change directions during play, the body’s weight is usually transferred to one foot or the other. Due to the acceleration or deceleration of the movement, stress and pressure are amplified.
On a Sport Court® game court or gym floor surface, the individual pieces of flooring shift independently to soak up lateral stresses. This reduces the pressure felt by the players when they quickly start, stop, or change directions during play. This benefit is unique to Sport Court® surfacing and unique to pickleball courts which feature Sport Court® pickleball surfacing.
Sport Court Pickleball Traction & Abrasion
Sport Court Pickleball Traction & Abrasion
The slight texture on Sport Court® pickleball surfacing provides the best traction. Indeed, whether wet or dry, it’s better than acrylic, concrete, or asphalt. But, what about skin abrasion? Doesn’t more traction equate to more skin abrasion? Not, with Sport Court® pickleball surfacing. Our Sport Game PB surface provides better traction with less skin abrasion. Testing shows that concrete and acrylic surfaces are over twice as abrasive as Sport Court pickleball surfacing. And, asphalt is almost 3x more abrasive than Sport Court pickleball.
Longevity
Longevity
Unlike painted acrylic surfaces, Sport Court® brand surfacing is made for the long haul. We literally have thousands of clients in Texas who have had the same Sport Court® surface on their court for 15, 20, 25, or more years. In fact, we had a project in 2023 in which a 28 year old Sport Court® surface was removed from its original location and re-installed at another site. And, what about the original court location? Of course, they chose to replace their decades old Sport Court® surface with a new Sport Court® surface.
Sport Court vs Acrylic
Sport Court vs Acrylic
Tennis in the United States is traditionally played on a hard acrylic surface. As the popularity of pickleball has grown, many acrylic tennis courts have been restriped for pickleball. However, many players are now realizing that acrylic is not the best all around surface. Acrylic surfaces provide absolutely no shock absorption. They also fade rapidly, become dirty easily, and loose their traction as they age. Acrylic must be reapplied every 4 to 6 years. These reapplication fees add up to costing many times more than Sport Court® surfacing. But, this is not the only cost. As acrylic provides little to no shock absorption, and as the popularity of pickleball has grown, orthopedic surgeons are now treating untold numbers of patients who have been injured on these acrylic pickleball courts.
Weather and Fading
Weather and Fading
For many decades, Sport Court® surfacing has held up to the heat extremes of Arizona and cold extremes of Minnesota. In accelerated weather testing, Sport Court® surfaces are shown to maintain their color better than any other modular surface. As shown in the photos below, competitors products fade at an alarmingly fast rate, while Sport Court® surfacing fades very little.
Sport Court® provides a 15 limited warranty which covers excessive fading.
