The School of Science and Technology (SST) installed their first Sport Court® gym floor in 2018 at their brand new campus on Evans Rd in Corpus Christi. A year later, when constructing a new elementary school on the same property, Sport Court® was the logical choice.
The gym floor at the elementary school is laid out with a middle school sized basketball court. The flooring design features ice blue seating squares which aid the coaches and students when lining up or getting into different formations for various activities.
The entire floor was installed in just two days. All of the rubber underlayment and the majority of the flooring was installed on Saturday. The trimming around the perimeter, door thresholds, cove base, and stripe painting was completed on Sunday. The volleyball post sleeves were installed a week or two later.
The School of Science and Technology was founded in 2005 by Dr. Turgay Korkmaz, a computer science professor at the University of Texas at San Antonio. The flagship campus was located on San Antonio’s north side, off Loop 410. Today there are campuses spread across San Antonio, Corpus Christi, and Houston. Construction of additional campuses is currently underway, with those new locations expected to open for the 2020-2021 school year.
