In the weeks leading up to the NCAA Men’s Final Four in San Antonio, Grand Slam Courts, the local dealer for Sport Court®, helped transform a neighborhood eyesore into a beautiful park, complete with multi-use game court, soccer field, and walking path.

This park project, named “Legacy Park”, was developed by San Antonio Sports School Park Program, was a $250,000 investment through a partnership among the City of San Antonio, the NCAA, San Antonio Sports and Unilever (the manufacturer of Dove Men Care).

“We’ve been hosting NCAA championships in San Antonio for over 20 years. And one of the best things about our partnership with the NCAA is a shared focus and passion for community. And it’s always been a priority for the NCAA to make an impact on the host city and leave legacies surrounding their events,” said Jenny Carnes, executive director of the San Antonio Local Organizing Committee, which worked to land the Final Four in the Alamo City. “We’re so grateful that the NCAA worked with our team from Day one to develop our community-legacy projects that align with existing programs that San Antonio Sports has and really focuses on areas of need within our community.”

During school hours, students at the Higgs Carter King Charter School will have use of the court and other Legacy Park amenities.  After school and on weekends, the entire park is open for those in the community to have a safe place to exercise, play, and enjoy time with family and friends.

The flooring chosen for this basketball court is Sport Court® Power Game.  This flooring features a dual layer shock absorbing design and is often the preferred floor of the San Antonio Spurs for their personal backyard courts.

The design of the floor includes all the markings needed for basketball as well as hopscotch and four square.  Of course, the court can also be used for futsal, pickleball, tennis, jump rope, and a variety of other sports.
